plot
it has been exactly 118 years since the last avatar, aang, had defeated the fire lord and restored balance to the world. he was strong and free throughout his life, and at the incredible age of 130, he died. then, a new avatar was born, a waterbender named ayumu. her seriousness proves helpful in learning all the elements, but it hurt her socially. in a world of confusion and imbalance, could ayumu be the one to restore peace, or will a new uprising cause her to fail? below the surface of the norm, a rebellion is forming. the non-benders, jealous of the respect the benders earn, decide to fight to restore their own honor. no one can be trusted, and many are losing faith. ayumu has yet to master all four elements at the age of twenty, even though she works hard. what can she do togther that she can't do alone? help her find out, assist the quest for peace, peace at last.
damn it! she thought angrily as she stalked out of the temple. no more traveling! the other monk waited patiently for them, hopefully he'd have something faster than a stupid sky bison. "ah, yes, avatar. i have prepared your new animal. khan is just over here. you are very lucky. there are few gila-hawks left in existence. i trust you will take very good care of him." "whoah!" ayumu exclaimed as she saw the beast. "it's huge!" it was. it towered over the monk, to its head it was about six feet nine inches. it had the body, feet, and tail of a gila monster, and the head, wings, and super-long talons of a hawk. truly a monstrous beast. its beady eyes glared at ayumu, then the creature bowed, lifting its left foot of the ground. "um, hi... khan." she patted his head gently, then grinned. "you're not all bad, are you boy?" it squawked, cocking its head sideways. "alright, lets go." she hopped up into the saddle, using her airbending to propel her higher than the average jump would take her. she took a firm hold of the reins, and looked down at kazan and raiden. "oh, right." she said, sweatdropping. "um, khan? can you... lay down so kazan can get on your back?" it squawked, jerked its head around a bit, then laid down on the stony floor of the temple grounds. "...okay. this'll take a bit of getting used to, but whatever. get on kazan, this ride should be shorter." "you won't even have to steer him. he knows how to get to every major village in the world." "ooh, smart... er, what is he again?" "a gila-hawk, ayumu." "oh, right. he's a smart... gila-hawk. well, goodbye!" "may the spirits be with you, avatar, and may your past lives guide you on your journey." "erm, thanks, but... aw, never mind. thank you for everything." she said, then told khan, "go to the eastern air temple. can you get there?" "squaa!" khan replied. "good, now let's go!"
He climbed on the gila-hawk, pulling up the frightened Raiden. This was a noble, powerful beast. Something worthy of the avatar. He and Raiden clung fiercely onto the saddle. They couldn't fly- and if they fell, they were done for. Khan...He hoped to never get this creature angry. His deep blue eyes surveyed the scenery around him. Yes, this was nice. IF only his parents could see him now, still alive an enjoying himself. They would be disappointed, probably hoping he died honorably for the avatar or something. Pathetic, but these Fire Nation parents were all about honor and things like that. Raiden whined and lay his head on Kazan with sad eyes. He hated flying, obviously.
"and we're off! thanks!" she shouted as khan leaped into the air, his hawk wings flapping effortlessly as they rose into the sky. she heard raiden whimper from the saddel. aww, he's so scared!
not many things happened over the next two days, just eating, sleeping, steering...
they finally arrived at the western air temple (to cut it short....)
[color=maroon]Kazan got off of the gila hawk, sliding down gracefully. He stretched out his arms and Raiden jumped into them. He set the crimson wolf down and waited for the airbender to make her appearance. Hopefully it would be quick, because he was already sick of the air temples.
